I haven't written in long form for a while, so bear with me when it comes to mistakes.

I remember getting my first 3D printer in 2016–17. 3D printing was very hacky back then. I spent a lot of time sanding and painting prints. This is what opened me up to the online maker world. For the longest time, I was just a lurker on forums. Wermy's SudoMod was a big one - it’s the reason I picked up a soldering iron for the first time.

Natalie the Nerd actually originated as a blog. I only had a few posts. I can't remember what site it was on, but it was inspired by this video from Maker's Muse:

I wanted to document my projects as well. Finding someone’s obscure project from 2008 has helped me so many times, it’s only fair that I pay that back. This is what has brought me to where I am today.

Ever since I made my NAS server earlier this year, I have become more conscious of who owns and controls my data and I like self hosting things where I can. Social media is a shit hole to say the least. This is one of the reasons I am starting this blog. I want to be able to document all the little things I work on without that data being locked into a social media algorithm. I also want to be a resource, so if anyone else works on something similar, my info can help them know what to do or what not to do.
